Hey! I'm Kaylin! I am a novice adventurer who is learning to rock climb and dabble in low-key mountaineering who also
enjoys granny-level hobbies like knitting and tending to my roses. I love being out in nature and exploring God's beautiful
creation.
I'm a boy mama, wife, and RN who left her soul-sucking career as a bedside nurse to live a more aligned and purpose-driven
life.
I am a recovering perfectionist who used to place her worth in her "accomplishments" and "successes" until I realized that
was causing so much anxiety and was kind of a BS way to live my life. I now know that my worth doesn't come from what I can
do, it comes from who I am! So I am out here striving to be my very BEST!
I used to be so afraid of failure and others' opinions of me that I wouldn't try something unless I knew I could be
successful. But gone is that mentality! I am striving to live a life free of self-limiting fears and doubts so I can go after
big scary dreams and do challenging things!
And THAT is what I want for you friend! I want you to conquer your own self-limiting fears and doubts and step into the
unstoppable person you are meant to be! I want you to not fear failure or looking the fool because you have and unshakable
confidence and love for yourself! I want you to be unapologetically YOU and to chase after the things that set your soul
on FIRE!
If there is one thing I have learned through the pandemic, it is that life is too short and too precious to be lived quietly.
I struggled with being overweight my whole life. I was an active kid and involved in many sports; however, I had a terrible
relationship with food and very poor body image. While I was young, sports kept me in relatively good shape, but once I left
for college and wasn't involved in school sports any longer, my health plunged. Late nights studying fueled by sugary coffee
drinks, junk food, and very little movement, led to me gaining a lot of weight.
I was embarrassed of how I looked, and I felt ashamed. Physically, I felt terrible! I had frequent gut issues, no energy, and
just felt like crap! My body did not reflect who I really was, and it hindered me from doing the things I wanted to do. I
tried EVERYTHING to lose the weight: random workouts promising flat abs, fad diets, various supplements, cleanses, and some
awful diet where I got prepackaged foods and soups... you name it, I tried it! It was so unhealthy.
Fast-forward a few years, I found myself as a newlywed working as a nurse. I finally was fed up with the way I was feeling
and decided to do something about it, but for real this time. While my husband was away on a work trip to Guam, I decided
enough is enough. I started to take my health into my own hands. I gave Beachbody a try again and did 21 Day Fix. This was
the jumpstart that got me going. I found that I felt so much better when I was eating better and moving my body, so I kept
going. I did workout videos I found online and made some of my own workouts. As my fitness level improved, I gained more
and more confidence and I wanted to continue to challenge myself. I got into all kinds of fun new activities: rock climbing,
running, hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, etc.
I wanted to keep challenging myself and pushing my limits, so I made it my goal to climb a mountain. I told my husband I
wanted to climb Mt. Shasta. I grew up in the shadows of this beautiful mountain. As a nature enthusiast obsessed with the
mountains, I thought what better way to train myself to peak fitness (see what I did there?) than climbing a mountain?! He
was all onboard to do it with me! We got books on mountaineering and started studying. We booked the trip with Shasta
Mountain Guides and jumped into training. I found that I had NO idea how to train for mountain climbing so I decided to
work with a personal trainer, and he further inspired my love for movement. After months of training, we finally hit the
mountain. I didn't make it to the summit but was so proud of myself for attempting this challenge and pushing my limits.
When the climb was over, I continued to work on my fitness on my own using what I had learned from playing sports growing
up and from my personal trainer while training for Shasta. I told my husband that I really wished there was a way to use
my career as a nurse and my newfound love for fitness to create my own sort of job where I can approach healthcare more
holistically encompassing health, nutrition, mental wellness, and movement...
After my son was born in the midst of the COVID pandemic, I experienced intense burnout and anxiety around my job as a
critical care nurse. The COVID pandemic brought an already crumbling healthcare system to its knees and I experienced
intense moral distress and soul injury. I found myself having debilitating panic attacks before my scheduled work days.
At work, my heart broke over the things I was seeing take place. Something had to change.
So, I took a crazy leap and quit my job as a nurse and said goodbye to bedside nursing. I wanted to pursue health and
fitness but didn't know where to start. I decided to try out Beachbody coaching because, why not? I had some success
with their programs, and it seemed like a cheap and easy way to get my foot in the door that would hopefully lead to
me eventually doing my own thing. I did Beachbody for about a year while I worked my way towards becoming a
NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach. I had fun with Beachbody, but I always knew I wanted something more.
So here I am, out on my own, working as a personal trainer and wellness coach to fulfill my passion to help people
become the healthiest versions of themselves! I love having the opportunity to create individualized programming and
empowering clients to realize how truly capable they are! I cannot wait to spark transformation in more lives by
igniting a passion for health and wellness!
